Tempting Cocoa In K-Cups

cocoa k cupsThe Keurig brewers make coffee using K-Cups while Tassimo uses T-pods and the other brands use coffee pods. By far, the largest variety of coffee is vacuum packed in K-Cups. This, undoubtedly is just one of the many reasons why Keurig outsells all other brands. In addition to having the largest selection of coffee, K-Cups are also available with cocoa and quite a large number of teas. Well respected names like Celestial Seasonings, Twinings, and Bigelow have packaged many of their best selling teas in K-Cups. So you can enjoy coffee in the morning, tea in the afternoon, and a delicious cup of cocoa at bedtime – all made with your Keurig brewer.

Green Mountain Coffee has just introduced two new cocoa k cups. Great for indulging anytime, either of these two is bound to hit the spot and both are brimming with the smooth, creamy flavor of chocolate.

  1. Café Escapes Dark Chocolate Hot Cocoa is rich and decadently full of dark European chocolately flavor.
  2. Café Escapes Milk Chocolate Hot Cocoa is the newest cocoa from Green Mountain and it’s worth waiting for. This creamy, indulgent treat has a smooth flavor, luscious, and satisfying.

Green Mountain Cocoa was developed especially for use with the Keurig brewer and makes a great mocha coffee when mixed with a K-cup blend. In a review from www.singleservecoffee.com., the comment was “We liked the fact we can use our Keurig to whip up a cup of the cocoa from a K-Cup…”

There are other brands of cocoa now packaged in K-Cups and you’re sure to find some new favorites. Take a look at these chocolate treats:

  • Timothy’s White Hot Chocolate has been a best-seller for years and www.schoffee.com says its “…a favorite of hot chocolate lovers everywhere. They make a rich, creamy steamy cup of white hot chocolate –not available anywhere else.” A coffee fan on www.qwowi.com/2008 tried Timothy’s and says “…it’s thick and creamy and full of white chocolate flavor when brewed at the 7.25 setting. I could not have been more pleasantly surprised by Timothy’s White Hot Chocolate…It’s one tasty cup of white chocolate – “deliciosity!”
  • Bellaccino Gourmet Hot Cocoa has a deep rich flavor with the intense lingering chocolate experience so cherished by true cocoa lovers.
  • Gloria Jean’s Hot Cocoa in a K-cup is a rich creamy blend, sure to satisfy so the hot chocolate lover has quite a few to choose from – and they are all delicious!

For Best Results In Making Cocoa With A K-Cup:

  • Store the K-Cups at room temperature.
  • Shake the K-Cup before brewing.
  • Use the 7.25 or 8 ounce setting on your Keurig Brewer.
  • First, run a hot water brew cycle – without a K-cup.
  • Then, just pop a K-Cup in your Keurig Brewer and, in less than a minute, you have a delicious cup of steaming, hot cocoa.

Top your cup or mug with a dollop of thick, sweet whipped cream and a dash of cinnamon or mound on the yummy marshmallows. What a luscious treat to enjoy any time of the day or night!

Booming Growth Of Green Mountain And Keurig Single Cup Brewers

Hot stocks are certainly in demand today – just like a great cup of coffee, made quickly. One of the really good growth stocks now is Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, a rapidly growing company that owns the Keurig company. This collaboration of genius is responsible for the Keurig brewers and the development of the patented K-Cups of coffee, tea, and cocoa. There has to be several good reasons for the company’s fantastic growth, which has envious Starbucks sitting on the sidelines. These reasons are basic and responsible for Keurig’s continued domination of the single cup brewing market.

  • The high quality of the product – the Keurig brewers
  • The durability and reliability of the coffee makers. They have won consistent high ratings for this.
  • The variety and availability of K-Cups from top name coffee roasters
  • The wide selection of teas and cocoa that are also available in K-Cups.

When you buy a Keurig Single Cup Coffee Maker, you are purchasing the best of its kind. The market for these appliances has grown tremendously over the past year and the Keurig brewers have won raves for their durability, reliability, and consistently making a great cup of coffee. There are five different models but they all have the same brewing mechanism. The price is determined by the additional features of each, such as a programmable clock or a larger water reservoir. Keurig, which is outselling all other brands, captured 4 out of 5 of the top spots on the latest list of best selling single cup brewers.

Just as consumers want a reliable coffee maker, one that won’t die on the kitchen counter after a few months use, they also want good coffee to brew. They want to be able to buy this coffee easily without waiting weeks for an order to arrive. K-Cups are available in many grocery stores, retail and specialty stores as well as on-line. Due to a recent agreement between Green Mountain and Walmart, you’ll soon be able to buy both the brewers and the K-Cups at this retail giant.

my-k-cupAnd as for variety – you have plenty of it with the K-Cups! Did you know there are over 200 different roasts or blends of coffees and teas, plus some cocoas, too?  There’s a big best seller in Timothy’s White Hot Chocolate with its creamy richness and lush chocolate flavor, which has been a long time favorite. One of the newer flavored coffees in a K-Cup is the Fair Trade Wild Mountain Blueberry, a sweet combination of buttery caramel with sun-kissed wild blueberries. Sounds crazy but it tastes great.

Now, there’s an additional feature which increases the usefulness of the Keurig single cup machine – the My K-Cup Reusable Filter. This allows you to use your favorite ground gourmet coffee in your brewer, as well as K-Cups. The filter will work with the Keurig Elite B40, the Special Edition B60, the Platinum B70 model, as well as the Breville BKC600XL Gourmet Single Cup machine. Take a look at the #1 best selling single cup coffee makers – you’ll be glad you did!

Don’t Miss Fair Trade Rain Forest Nut

Buttery, rich flavors of nuts combined with a fragrant vanilla and the sweet overtones of caramel and cashews blend in a delightful cup. This has been a long time favorite with Green Mountain coffee fans. One writes that she’s been buying it for over ten years and loves the ‘nutty’ flavors of cashew and Brazil nuts. This coffee is available in bags of whole beans, ground roast, and in K-Cups to be used in your Keurig single cup coffee maker.

This is a Fair Trade coffee and the beans are produced by farmers in co-ops in Northern Peru. However, many of these Peruvian workers have been drawn away from their usual jobs in the coffee co-operatives by the high wages paid by a government project for re-building a road. The co-operatives were very short on seasonal workers at their busy coffee harvesting time. So the co-ops joined together in the ancient Andean spirit of ‘ayni’ and took turns helping each other. They rotated, working on first one coffee farm, then moving on to the next, harvesting the beans and, by working together, they got the big job done. The co-op dedicated two large trucks to pick up all the coffee from the different co-ops and deliver it for sale to the coffee importer, Green Mountain.

This has been one of the very first Fair Trade coffees packaged by Green Mountain and is reflective of the company’s stewardship program of support for farmer cooperatives. It is committed to improving the quality of life in coffee producing countries by supporting projects that help develop independence, self-sufficiency, and empowerment. Many of these programs contribute to the improvement of the education, safety, and health of coffee growing communities.

Single Serve Coffee at www.singleservecoffee.com wrote about Rain Forest Nut, saying “…it has a rich flavor- almost a strong vanilla note and tastes of caramel as well. By itself and without the cream, you get a hint of the flavor but by adding cream and sugar, the Rain forest Nut flavors really come out. The reviewer continues, “The other thing we really like about the Rain Forest Nut?  It tastes real. It doesn’t have a syrup or artificial taste to it. It also lingers in your mouth and as the coffee cools down, delivers a very similar taste each sip you take.”

Don’t miss the great flavor of Fair Trade Rain Forest Nut. It’s a tribute to the farmers who raise the coffee on their tiny farms and work in co-operative efforts to improve their lives and those of their family. It’s also a tribute to Green Mountain Coffee , who works to support the coffee farmers and bring a higher quality product to you!

I love waking up to the smell of this k-cup in my Keurig B70 in the am.

National Wildlife Blend – A Bird Friendly Coffee

k-cup-national-wildlife-blendGreen Mountain Coffee Roasters joined forces with the National Wildlife Federation in an effort to protect the natural habitat of migratory birds. They are working together to promote increased production of organic and shade grown coffee and the development of sustainable methods of coffee growing. The two organizations now produce the National Wildlife Blend and the National Wild Life Decaf roast. They support the important link between shade grown coffee habitats and the long term survival of many species of migratory birds of the Americas.

For years, coffee was raised on farms where the hills and valleys were cloaked in thick forests of trees that were full of birds and a varied population of mammals, bugs and snakes. Then things began to change in the 1970’s, when bigger coffee interests began cutting down the trees in Latin America and later East Asia. Over 40% of the coffee farms in Mexico, Colombia, the Caribbean, and Central America were converted to sun-grown plantations.  Sun-grown coffee is often inexpensive, of lower quality and produces a brew that is much less complex or full-bodied than a shade grown blend

The National Wildlife Blend is shade grown, a mix of Fair Trade and Organic coffee beans from Central and South America. They were produced on small family owned farms that raise shade grown coffee, without dumping chemicals and fertilizers on the plants to encourage rapid growth. These small scale farmers in Mexico and Peru use organic techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation.
Pesticides are unnecessary because the insects that flourish along-side shade coffee are eaten by the birds.

Some of these beans came from the La Trinidad cooperative, located in the mountains of Oxacaca. They are mixed with beans from the slopes of the Sierra Mountains in southeast Mexico. Here, the beans are raised by farmers in a cooperative that recently opened two Community Stores, to provide low cost goods to people living in these little remote villages. This cooperative also gives farmers 10 to 20 small trees every year to plant among their coffee bushes. These trees shade the plants, promoting the natural growth of more flavorful beans, while providing habitat for birds and wildlife.

Ken Davids, of www.coffeereview.com, describes the National Wildlife Blend as ‘…In the cup gently acidy, light-bodied but silky in the mouth feel and mild in flavors, with hints of caramel, cocoa, pear and sweet flowering grass. Very sweet but simple finish.”

Another review by www.singleservecoffee.com says, “The taste is very good. The blend is from coffee beans from Mexico providing a unique, spicy chocolate note, and notes of ripe, dark flavor. In addition, the blend includes Organic Central and South American coffees. From the first sip, you can definitely distinguish the Central American coffee characteristics, which tend to be more vibrant, with a citrus finish….”

National Wildlife k-cup coffee is available in bags of whole beans, ground roast or in K-Cups, specially designed to use in your Keurig Single Cup Coffee Maker.
