Using A K-Cup

The co-operatives were very short on seasonal workers at their busy coffee harvesting time. So the co-ops joined together in the ancient Andean spirit of ‘ayni’ and took turns helping each other. They rotated, working on first one coffee farm, then moving on to the next, harvesting the beans and, by working together, they got the big job done. The co-op dedicated two large trucks to pick up all the coffee from the different co-ops and deliver it for sale to the coffee importer, Green Mountain.

This has been one of the very first Fair Trade coffees packaged by Green Mountain and is reflective of the company’s stewardship program of support for farmer cooperatives. It is committed to improving the quality of life in coffee producing countries by supporting projects that help develop independence, self-sufficiency, and empowerment.
